The water, sanitary, and storm sewer systems are a part of the city utility infrastructure that makes up the underlying foundation of our city. The Public Works Utilities Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of these systems.
Gopher State One Call (GSOC)
State law requires anyone doing any excavating to contact
GSOC at least 48 hours in advance (excluding weekends and holidays). Call (651) 454-0002 or 8-1-1 (press 1 for GSOC).
Maintenance Costs
Utility fees, not property taxes, pay for the expense of maintaining a city’s utility infrastructure. Each time you pay your utility bill, a portion of that money is used for ongoing repairs and updates to the entire utility system. Maintenance is continuous as
aging infrastructure is replaced and new technology incorporated to provide high-level utility services at the lowest possible cost.
