Airport Runway Noise Information

Living in Apple Valley, we all enjoy convenient access to the Minneapolis / St. Paul International Airport. But, our proximity to the airport also has had negative noise consequences after the new Runway 17/35 opened in 2005. The runway was built by the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) to increase the overall capacity of the airport.

The new runway is expected to handle 17% of arrivals and 37% of departures at the airport annually. Maps showing the noise levels around the airport are available from the MAC.

The MAC holds quarterly public input and informational meetings. Much of the noise information presented at the meetings can be found on the MAC website. The MAC noise programs webpage offers a variety of tools to help residents locate their property in relation to the flight tracks.
